Statutory requirement
Every Hong Kong limited company must keep accounting records sufficient to show its transactions and financial position. Once the Inland Revenue Department issues a Profits Tax Return, the company must file it by the deadline together with audited financial statements. If the accounting records are incomplete, the audit cannot proceed and the tax filing is delayed.
