Statutory requirement
The Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) requires every company incorporated in Hong Kong to have a Hong Kong registered address. Statutory documents from the Companies Registry and the Inland Revenue Department are served at that address: the Annual Return (Form NAR1) must be filed within 42 days of the anniversary of incorporation, the on-time registration fee is $105, and the late registration fee rises with the delay to $3,480 (source: Companies Registry). Where there is no one to receive the letters, the deadline is not postponed, and the company remains responsible for filing late.
