Frozen Confection Factory Licence

Licensed company service provider · TC008771
A restaurant kitchen with licence papers

A business making frozen confections, including selling ice cream, must hold a frozen confection factory licence.

All equipment connected with the ice cream machine must hold qualifying certificates and be submitted to FEHD for approval. Before buying a machine, confirm that its model has already been approved by FEHD; a model that does not meet the specification means waiting for a new machine to be approved, which delays opening.

Frozen confection factory licence FAQ

What is needed to sell soft-serve ice cream in part of a restaurant?
A suitable soft-serve machine and position must be chosen, plans submitted, and the shop must meet the requirements of both FEHD and the Buildings Department.
What should I check before buying an ice cream machine?
First confirm that the machine model has been approved by FEHD. All equipment connected with the machine must hold qualifying certificates; if the model does not meet the specification, a new machine has to be approved, which delays opening.
